Crysis Warhead officially announced as PC exclusive

Crytek set up a teaser for the game earlier this week but now both the developer and its publisher Electronic Arts have officially lifted up the curtain on Crysis Warhead, the next game in the sci-fi first person shooter series. The press release announces that the title will be a PC exclusive and is scheduled to ship to stores this fall. This will be the first game from Crytek's recently established studio in Budapest and will used an enhanced version of their own in-house CryEngine 2 graphics platform.

This won't actually be a true sequel to Crysis but rather a game that takes place at the same time and location as the original. It will follow Sergeant Sykes (also known as "Psycho") who appeared briefly in the first game. Crysis Warhead will allow players to play Sykes exclusively as he fights on the other side of the island featured in the first game. The press release states that Sykes is more aggressive than the original game's central character of Nomad and that he will have some additional vehicles and weapons to use against the aliens on the island. We hope to have more info on the game later this summer.
