Age of Conan tops NPD weekly list; Sins of a Solar Empire departs

The NPD Group's weekly list of the top 10 best selling PC games in the US has a new edition for the week ending May 24 and as predicted by developer Funcom, the fantasy MMO Age of Conan reached the number one spot, with the more expensive Collector's Edition of the game appearing at number three on the list. Age of Conan has certainly become the best selling MMO game out of the box since Blizzard's World of Warcraft debuted in late 2004. Of course the question is can Age of Conan continue to sell as well as World of Warcraft which has a whopping three versions on this week's top 10 list.

Besides Age of Conan the only other major change on the list is the departure of Sins of a Solar Empire. The Ironclad/Stardock space strategy game has been on the top 10 list since its debut in mid-February and the fact that this relatively low budget independently made game has remained on the list for as long as it did remains a remarkable achievement. In fact we wouldn't be surprised if the game doesn't pop up on the list again at some point this year.
