It's been nearly two years since the Trion World Network announced its presence. The company at the time said its goal was to create and publish online game titles but since its first announcement in September 2006 it has kept the specifics of its plans close to the vest. Today the company raised the curtain a bit more about their plans, announcing the first tiny details on their debut title. The game, which doesn't have an announced title, will be a fantasy MMO game that's being designed by Jon Van Caneghem, the creator of the Might and Magic series and one of the original founders of Trion. According to the press release today, the game world will be a place for players to " . . . significantly affect the gameplay experience through dynamic events." They are also promising ". . . battles of enormous scale" in the title. A release date for the game was not announced.
In a separate press release, Trion World Network announced a deal with the Sci-Fi Channel to " . . . co-develop a new entertainment franchise" that will consist of both a game and a related TV show on the cable television network. Details on the game were not announced. Trion also announced a deal to publish games on the Playstation 3 console which indicates that their games will appear on platforms other than the PC. The company has raised $30 million from various investors to help fund development of their games.

The original IP sounds cool as long as it is a 'multiplayer' game and not an 'MMO'. No interest in the Sci-Fi channel junk. TV blows.
