In 1854, James Arthur Pini founded The Pini Society, a group whose mission entailed the excavation, preservation, and interpretation of everything archaeological. If it was a relic integral to mankind's long history, The Pini Society saw that they were involved with it. After approximately 100 years, the venerable group of explorers and adventures fell into disuse "for a variety of reasons," according to the Society's website.

Interested in the preservation of not only archaeological treasures but the history of her family, Pini's great-great-granddaughter, Rebecca Jayne, re-founded The Pini Society and brought with it a number of new ideas - most notably, that people could educate themselves through video games.
