Rumor: No new Call of Duty game in 2008?

Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 turned into the biggest selling PC first person shooter game in 2007, beating out the heavily hyped competition of Valve's The Orange Box, Splash Damage and id's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Crytek's Crysis, and Epic's Unreal Tournament 3. Yet the next game in Activision's Call of Duty franchise might not make an appearance in 2008, at least according to the latest rumor column in Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine (and excerpted at 1Up.com).

While the official word from Activision's latest conference call is that the next Call of Duty game would be due out sometime this fall, the EGM rumor claims that developer Treyarch won't have the game ready to be released until February 2009. Details on the game are still top secret with Activision only saying that the game will take place in a new theater of war
