Throwing its name into the ever-growing mound of PC gaming rigs is Acer, who hopes to dazzle and amaze enthusiasts with its Predator gaming rig.
Sporting a bulky black and orange case that resembles futuristic body armor, Predator machines seem to be designed with two primary goals: the first is an expansive hardware list, which includes NVIDIA's SLI technology, up to 8GB of system RAM, and Intel Core 2 Extreme processors.
The second goal, accessibility, is particularly attractive. Each Predator machine is equipped with DualLAN and EasySwap technologies. DualLAN is a dual-Ethernet port set up that enables a game to be hosted and joined on the same machine. EasySwap is manifested through nine USB ports, a swappable hard drive cage conveniently mounted on the system's front, a 14-in-1 card reader, six different audio jacks, and two external eSATA ports.
While no pricing schemes were announced, it wouldn't be too much to assume that such a powerful machine will cost quite a bit regardless of different hardware combinations. Of course, if you're up to buying 8 gigs of RAM in one fell swoop, that could be considered money well spent, as you'll not likely need to upgrade that particular aspect of your machine in the near future*.
* Wishful thinking, I know.
