Infogrames clearly needs a major hit to solve its many financial issues. The French company, which also owns the majority of US based Atari, has sold off most of its internal development studios and many of their major game properties (Unreal to Midway, Civilization to Take Two, Driver to Ubisoft, etc). One property they held onto was their survival horror franchise Alone in the Dark and it looks like Infogrames is putting all of its eggs into a fairly uncertain basket.
In a new interview from Reuters, Infogrames's new CEO David Gardner states that he expects the game to sell between 2 to 3 million copies in the company's current business year. The game is slated to be released in the US on June 20 for the PC and other platforms. If the game fails to make Infogrames' sales targets, one wonders if the company itself will be around for much longer.
