Sega Racing Studio to close
An already brutal year for game developers just got even rockier today with the news that Sega's UK based Racing Studio will be closing its doors. The studio, founded in 2005, released only one game; the 2007 racing title Sega Rally Revo (which was released on the PC as well as consoles). While it got decent reviews the game underperformed in terms of sales and that was apparently the reason for the studio's closure today. At one point Sega Racing Studio had about 60 team members. This move adds to the string of game studio closures in the past few months; Perpetual Entertainment, Iron Lore and Castaway Entertainment are among the other companies that have either shut down completely or are in the last grips of life.
