The Witcher spawns web browser based game

CD Projekt's fantasy action-RPG The Witcher got a ton of critical raves when it was released back in October 2007 and apparently it didn't do too badly in terms of sales (the developer stated it has sold 600,000 copies worldwide from its launch to mid-February). CD Projekt has already announced plans to released an "enhanced edition" of The Witcher later this year but today the company also announced The Witcher: DuelMail, a free web browser based game that they claim will have "depth seldom found in similar products."

The game sounds like a mix of turn based RPG and fighting games with two players picking from one of three character classes and then battling it out online with attacks, counters, and spells. Winning matches allows players to gain access to more items and skills and CD Projekt promises to add content to the web-based game on a regular basis. Look for The Witcher: DuelMail to launch in open beta format on April 7 and officially launch on May 9.
